“Is general anesthesia safe for dental work?”
My son is 14 years old. I want to know if general anesthesia is safe for dental work?

General anesthesia is safest for dental work if provided by an anesthesiologist in a hospital or surgery center. Especially when children are involved.
If your son is healthy general anesthesia is very safe. The other factor is who is providing the anesthesia. It should be provided by a separate person other than the dentist.
General anesthesia is very safe if it is performed or Supervised by a Board Certified Anesthesiologist. It's less safe if it's performed by the Dentist themselves, since the dentist does not have extensive training and experience as an Board Certified Anesthesiologist (3 months for a dentist vs. 4 years for an anesthesiologist)

It's just as safe as in any surgical center or hospital as long as American standard of anesthesiology monitors are utilized and you have an anesthesiologist present.
