Prostate biopsies are generally done under local with sedation.
Prostate Biopsy can be done under Intravenous sedation or General anesthesia
General anesthesia is administered to make it easier for the patient to stay still during the procedure. Thank you.
generally not
Mostly its IV sedation or monitored anesthesia care. But general anesthesia is an option, especially for multiple prostate biopsies since it could be a long procedure. Its best to discuss the extent of the procedure and Urologists preference in terms of anesthesia with your Surgeon.
Usually
Normally, conscious sedation.
