“Is general anesthesia used for prostate biopsy?”
I will have a prostate biopsy. Is general anesthesia used for prostate biopsy?

General anesthesia is administered to make it easier for the patient to stay still during the procedure. Thank you.
Mostly its IV sedation or monitored anesthesia care. But general anesthesia is an option, especially for multiple prostate biopsies since it could be a long procedure. Its best to discuss the extent of the procedure and Urologists preference in terms of anesthesia with your Surgeon.
