Is it normal to choke on mucus draining from your nose into your throat everytime you tilt your head back or lay on your back?

Is it normal to choke on mucus draining from your nose into your throat everytime you tilt your head back or lay on your back? I am allergic to beeswax and lanolin and beeswax is in almost everything so I'm probably surounded by it. This issue started in the spring when things started blooming and hasn't stopped. I also have a scratchy throat, a stuffy nose, and red itchy eyes. I just want to know if this is just an allergy symtom or if this is actually a concerning issue that I should probably look into or tell my allergist about. I'm not typically one to go to doctors when I have issues because I was raised to just toughen up and ignore it but this is just getting so anoying. I've been using flonase and zyrtec everyday and this is still happening. I don't know what else to do.

Post nasal drainage can cause gagging. This is fairly common during allergy seasons and can last for months. See your allergist for treatment recommendations.
