Yes a mammogram is a safe procedure that analyzes your breast tissue for its health and to detect any abnormal cells that may indicate cysts, lumps, pockets, fluids, and/or calcification's in the breast. If abnormal cells are found, a repeat test may be necessary to verify weather or not if the cells are cancerous or not and if they will spread to other parts of the body. The only portion of a mammogram that may be uncomfortable is the provider you are with and if they are taking into consideration your threshold and levels of pain in terms of the use of the machinery and equipment used in their practice.

Mammography is a safe procedure that will examen the tissue of the breast to check for potential cancerous changes.
Mammograms began at age 40 without known family history/ no cancer history. Or age 35 if a family history of breast cancer is present.

*Yes, mammograms are very safe.* Mammograms use a low dose of X-rays to take images of the breast tissue, and the radiation exposure is minimalwell within the safety limits set by medical guidelines. For most women, the benefits of detecting breast cancer early far outweigh any potential risks from the procedure. Its normal to feel a bit of discomfort during the mammogram because the breast is compressed to get a clear image, but this mild discomfort is very temporary (Less than 10 seconds usually) and doesnt cause any harm. Most patients report no pain at all. *N.
