“Is my father close to lung cancer ”
So my father has been smoking for a long time now and just today he's been coughing a lot lately, he said he feels like he's feeling a bit sick yesterday. I'm just wondering if he's getting close.

Certainly with the long term history of smoking your father is at risk for lung issues. It is more likely something like COPD rather than lung cancer but he certainly should get it checked out.
From smoking but have nothing to do with cancer. He needs to see his doctor and find out what the problem is.
