Is my sister faking being pregnant?

A week and a half ago my 19 year old sister came to me saying she is pregnant (with 2 non-digital Clear blue pregnancy tests). So me already having a child told her to make a doctor's appointment. Her doctor's appointment was 2 days ago (2 days after taking the first pregnancy test) and her doctor (our family doctor) had her take a pregnancy test right out of the box (purple lid), it ended up being negative. The doctor also told her that it's very rare for someone to take 2 pregnancy tests at home and they come up positive, then 2 days later you take one at the doctor's office and it's negative. Being unsure the doctor ordered her labs to have blood work done, (but she wouldn't get her results back for an additional 2 days). Today I find out that supposedly they called her and told her that it was negative but she had a miscarriage and was approximately between 7-8 weeks pregnant in her words. So what I want to know is wouldn't the doctor order an ultrasound and/or pelvic examination to determine that she had a miscarriage? And not just call her and tell her that she did and act like nothing ever happened?

Hi. If her HCG blood test is negative then she is no longer pregnant. If her home test was positive, she should have had a chemical pregnancy. It is a very early pregnancy that then did not continue. She should bleed soon. If she had a miscarriage at 7-8 weeks, her blood test would still be positive at this soon time. She probably had a very early conception at less than 5 weeks.
I'm not sure that you're sister miscarried. She likely had a false positive urine pregnancy test or a chemical pregnancy that spontaneously resolved. (A chemical pregnancy is when pregnancy hormones begin to rise slightly, but then begin to resolve before levels are ever high enough to produce a pregnancy in the womb). Blood pregnancy tests (for quantitative beta HCG) are more accurate than urine, which is the type of test her doctor likely did, so if it was negative, I believe that result. It's very unlikely to be 7 weeks pregnant,  and miscarry without heavy bleeding, cramping, and passage of pregnancy tissue.. and your sister would know if she experienced any of those symptoms.  If your sister is having heavy bleeding or pelvic pain, then it is reasonable for her to return to her doctor and request an ultrasound. (Bleeding and pain can also just be the resumption of her normal menstrual cycle).
