I want to fix my bunion. Is the recovery painful from bunion surgery?

It can be. Everyone experiences pain differently and foot surgery can be more painful than most people believe. Your provider should help control the pain and it usually goes away quickly if the right procedure is chosen and it is performed well. Dr. E
Post op pain is controlled with long acting anesthetics. The toe, foot will feel numb, but very little pain. Oral medications will be helpful in the intermediate time frame, followed by physical therapy to restore flexibility and balance. We can provide all of this for our patients and they recover very well. Let me know if you have other questions. Dr. Liddy
Hi! There will be pain after any surgery. It would be best to follow your post op instructions and take pain medication as directed for the best possible outcome.
Recovery from bunion surgery is usually not too painful. I recommend you schedule and appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) to discuss options
