“Is this a yeast infection?”
The vaginal entrance and around it has been itchy and painful and it was full of white clumpy cottage cheese-looking stuff.

It's difficult to say for certain after doing a physical exam, but the symptoms sound like a yeast infection. It would be reasonable to try an over-the-counter antifungal medication like Monistat, the symptoms should improve within a few days, if they do not you should seek medical attention for an exam.
