Knee problem after hip replacement

In April of this year I received a hip replacement. When I woke up from surgery I immediately felt extreme pain in my knee. I made it clear to the surgeons assistant and he said that they probably damaged my knee while moving my leg around during surgery. So, I went home day after. Four days after I went back to the hospital because of the number ten level of pain in my knee. The took x-rays, did blood work, all tests where done. Three days later I went home with more pain meds. A short time later, same process, hospital, more tests, ect.
Since then I've had MRI's and a bone scan. My surgeon now tells me I have nothing wrong physically, that it's all in my head. Yesterday, he told me to do physical therapy if I though it would help. I was angry. I asked him how that would happen if I can't even lift my leg. He said "well that's true". So I just walked out. What should I do? I explained to him I have been out of work since April and now very close to homelessness. He said" I'm sorry to hear that, that's bad news". He did this to me!
