MPV slightly elevated?

Recently I had a complete blood count. Everything is in a good range (erythrocytes, thrombocytes, leukocytes, basophils, granulocytes, and eosinophils counts were all normal). The only thing elevated was my MPV (mean platelet volume) I have 12.6 fL while the lab had ranges of 7-11. Is there a reason to worry about this? I have no symptoms and feel well, it was just a routine check-up I did.

Hi, In answer to your question, the MPV-mean platelet volume is a value based on the size of the platelet. One has occasionally young platelets in the peripheral blood which will be slightly larger on the platelet volume value. Nothing to be concerned about.
