“Methylprednisolone and birth control?”
Hi! I was wondering if Methylprednisolone affects the contraceptive pill Norgestimate/Ethinyl Estradiol (specifically mono-linyah)? I am taking it for hives that appeared, and I am wondering if it will change the effectiveness of the pill.

You should be ok
Since you are taking it for hives, I am assuming it is short term. The steroids do not interfere with the contraceptive effectiveness of the birth control pill. But birth control pills may slow down the metabolism of the steroid in the liver and allow it to increase the steroids effects.

Actually the birth control will inhibit the breakdown of the the methylprednisolone in your system. Overall, you should be ok.
