Methylprednisolone medicine?

Hey, I had a question about the steroid methylprednisolone that was given to me for back pain. I had re-injured my back and it flared up again giving me a ton of pain in my lower back. The doctor prescribed me this steroid to take 5 times on the first day, 4 times on the second day, 3 times on the third day, 2 times on the fourth day and finishing with 1 times on the fifth day. The doctor also gave me a refill in case my back ever flared up again. Earlier today my back flared up again but it wasn’t as bad as before. I was wondering if I should just take 1 or if I should start that process over by taking 5 on the first day and so on.

You need to take the medication as prescribed, which would be starting the medication over since the provider scripted a refill. However, steroids have a lot of long term side effects so I would recommend discussing this with the provider prior to starting a new round of the medication.
