Nephrologist (Kidney Specialist) Questions

Microliths appropriate diet

In novermber I felt pain while urinating. The examination found that I have microliths in both kidneys and likely a cyst in one of them. My doctor said that this is not critical and adviced to drink more water. I'm an active athlete: do weight-training 3 times a week and active cardio two times. I do try to avoid fatty foods, my diet is animal protein centered. However, I do drink about a gallon of beer per week while socializing. Can I keep this level of beer consumption?

I would recommend to limit the beer consumption to about half of what your current intake is. If your kidney function is normal then you should be fine. However the microliths may need further evaluation. This would include kidney US, calcium levels, creatinine levels and evaluation by a nephrologist.
