“Minoxidil ”

I started using minoxidil 5% to help fill in some pathcy areas of my beard. After a couple weeks of use I started to shed a lot of hair on my head. I had very healthy hair before and i stopped using it about a week ago. Will my hair grow back to its old self. Also, since i stopped using it does that mean the shedding should stop or will it continue to happen?

Hello there! Hair shedding may be part of the normal hair cycle but excessive hair shedding which can be worsened by stress, inflammation, poor diet, irritation etc requires evaluation and if appropriate, treatment. I recommend see a physician/dermatologist that can evaluate, and if needed, biopsy and diagnose this skin condition so appropriate treatment can be given!
