Periodontist Questions White gums

My gums are becoming white. What is the reason for this?

I am noticing that my gums are turning white and discolored. Is this a sign of a dental infection or a gum problem? Why is this happening?

More likely it sounds like a gum problem. There may be an irritation in the area that is causing the gum to turn white. This should be checked out and possibly a biopsy it by a periodontist.
Smoking or dry mouth.
I see this most often in smokers.
That's difficult to say without seeing it. You should see a periodontist to diagnose the problem, if any.
The gums turning white could be a number of causes, exact cause cannot be determined without a clinical evaluation by dental professional.
