Dermapathologist Questions Dermatologist

My hands (and general skin) taste metallic?

When I lick my fingertips or my lips, there’s a slightly metallic taste. It’s not too prominent. It is not a long-lasting taste in my mouth. I believe I have always had this but have just realized that not everyone does. Is it cause for concern?

Unfortunately, I dont know the answer to your question. Do you also have difficulty with smelling things often goes along with taste disorders? Probably the first thing I would do is check with your primary doctor and review all the medications you are on including ones not prescribed, since some medications can cause taste disorders. They may also want to run some tests to see if you have some nutritional problems. Finally, you may consider consulting a neurologist about this. This can be a symptomatic response of Vitamin D overdose. Stop the Vit D for a period and check. Also gum disease taking certain medication like zopiclone and metronidazole. Please, see your health care provider and I recommend stopping your Vit. D for a while to see the difference. Thank you.

Go see the physician for some blood work and hair analysis. Could be metal overload, iron deficiency, etc.
