Dermatologist Questions Facial Fillers For Wrinkles

PRP or dermafillers?

Hello!

I was wondering which one is better: PRP for volume or Juvaderm fillers. I am 21 and I would like some more volume under my eyes and in my cheek area. I spoke with my cosmologist today and she recommended fillers, but after we spoke she said she could use prp for volume.

My question is, which one is safer, which lasts longer, and and which produces the better result?

Thanks!

Hello, PRP does NOTHING for “filling” an area. It lasts a few days. It only helps with slight rejuvenation of the skin in conjunction with other procedures. Fillers such as Juvéderm do filling. It’s in the name. However, I’m very perplexed you mentioned your cosmetologist. Cosmetologists are NOT allowed to perform any of these procedures. I hope she referred you to an experienced and qualified physician to perform these procedures. I have a lot of patients with bad complications from getting pregnant censures done by unqualified off of the street people. Please be careful! Both are safe. But save your money on the PRP. Unfortunately, the science to support the use of PRP for most of the purposes for which it is being hyped these days lags far behind the marketing. The under eye region is no place for inexperienced, novice, non-physician injectors. The skin is very thin and there are some potential dangerous blood vessels in the vicinity. You would be wise to consult with a board certified aesthetic dermatologist and make sure to ask to see his/her before and after photos of the under eye region. Juvederm is also not a great choice, since it grabs onto and holds on a good deal of tissue fluid that can lead to bags under the eyes. Check out my blog post on this subject that will be posted tomorrow.

The PRP to improve the quality of the skin. The filler is for the volume.
In my opinion, hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane provide much longer-lasting volume augmentation than does PRP. The jury is still out on the results of PRP treatments.
PRP is a procedure using your own blood and lasts for two years, while the JUVIDERM filler lasts for one year. Both procedures are pretty safe if done properly by a physician since sterility is important to avoid infection. My preferred filler is using your own fat that lasts for many years, saving you frequent treatments and additional cost.
Thank you for the question. While PRP is good to stimulatethe production of collagen, the fillers that are hyaluronic acid based, are much better, produce immediate results and last a long time when properly applied, and the correct one is chosen.

Hi. To improve under eye volume filler works best. You can not use juvederm under the eye. Select fillers can work under the eye and cannula technique is the safest. Under eye filler is technically challenging and you should only go to an expert. If you would like a consultation call 310-659-9900.
fillers will give you better and longer lasting results
PRP certainly can be a useful addition when treating many skin issues including fine lines, aging, environmental damage, hair thinning, etc. However, it is not an effective filler so stick with an HA (hyalauronic acid) product like restylane or juvederm. Hope that helps
without question, the dermal filler will give you more volume than PRP will. Stick with the filler
The safest is Juvederm
Prp helps improve texture. Fillers are used for volume.
First of all as a board certified Plastic Surgeon your asking a cosmologist? Really ? This is a doctor who took a weekend course on this and is is a self proclaimed expert. They offered you both because they just want your money and do not know any different. Prp has not been studied and its results and not consistent. So fillers are the way to go. Only a very few fillers work in this area, so I would recommend you see an actual expert.
