Allergist & Immunologist Questions

Persistent cough and congestion

I always have seasonal allergies. This spring I also have had a cough and mucous buildup. I have gone to urgent care twice over the last 2 months and was diagnosed with a sinus infection, which also has been a part of my history. I have taken antibiotics twice and a steroid prescription once, along with nasal sprays. I get nice relief for a week or so but I go back to coughing, mucous buildup and sometimes sore throat. I have tested negative for Covid and strep throat. Is this all related to allergies? Can I try something else?

This has been a rough spring for individuals with seasonal allergies. Your symptoms are consistent with allergies. The medication regimen that you have been prescribed can provide short term relief. Seeing an allergist for a thorough evaluation may provide you with a plan of action for long term control.
