Ribs pain after a hit?

I'm 24 years old and a 5'3 male. I've been in a sports game a week ago and got hit very hard on the right side of my ribs, just below my chest. At the time I took a small break and got back to the game and haven't felt a thing. Right now, while I'm not doing anything which involves chest activity I feel no pain at all, but when I move my right arm to certain positions, breathe deep, laugh, cough, or lay on my right side I feel pain. The area is a tiny tiny bit swollen you can barely see it. It's been a week already and the situation has not changed at all, for better or worse. I'm not sure if I should bother going to the ER to get this checked or not.

Chances are the problem is transient since you can breathe o.k..
If no chest pain, shortness of breath, then probably do not need to go to ED. Rib injuries can take 4-6 weeks to get better - unlikely to take up to 12 weeks. If you have chest pain, shortness of breath, then should see primary care physician or emergency room.
