Root canal?

I had the first part of the root canal done 4 days ago. I have been given an appointment for the end of January for the second part of it, is that too long to wait? Also how long does the usually last? As it’s throbbing quite a bit.

Yes, it is. It seems you still have some necrotic tissue left it the canal. You need to go back as soon as possible.
I would recommend reaching out to the dentist who started the root canal and inform them of your symptoms and concerns.

The end of January is a little longer than ideal to wait to have the root canal completed. You should contact your dentist and ask to be placed on a waiting list.
Root canal therapy usually is done in one or two appointments, but there are exceptions. That’s a pretty long interval between your appointments. If discomfort persists for more than 5 days, notify your dentist.
