Should you massage a pulled muscle?

I am a 24 year old female. I wonder if I should massage a pulled muscle?

Gently and after icing for 20 minutes.
Massaging a pulled muscle can definitely help relieve some of the pain. If there is swelling around the muscle fibers then you should use ice to reduce the inflammation. The massage should be light to moderate. Too much force could make the injury worse. If the muscle is in spasm then apply moist heat then ice. Try to avoid straining the pulled muscle until it is fully healed.
Hi,

That is a great question, and who doesn't love a great massage? We like it because it promotes circulation and relaxation to our stiffened muscle fibers. However, it is important to be vigilant as to when to move to the next step if the massage is not improving your issue. There are a multitude of reasons why you have muscle pain, and a multitude more reasons where the muscle isn't the problem and the muscle is hurting or spasming because it's reacting to another issue that your body needs help with such as joint issues, or connective tissue wear and tears or fascia stiffness or others. For this reason, it is important to report to an osteopathic physician who is best of both worlds as a physician with chiropractors' skill sets. Osteopathic Physicians can appropriately diagnose and treat you as a whole rather than concentrate on a specific body part.
Yes it helps the muscle heal properly.
A pulled muscle can be massaged. I recommend a lighter massage as opposed to deep tissue until the muscle has had a chance to heal.
Yes. It should be done gently to reduce swelling.
