Hi. There can be a few different things going on that a PT would take you through a thorough subjective history of what specifically makes it aggravated and what eases symptoms. But from this very limited amount of information, I would consider origin from the neck that may be radiating symptoms down the arm (like a pinched nerve), or origin at the shoulder radiating down (like a shoulder tendon issue). Or it could be a combination of both, again - depending on a series of other information that would require a consult for further investigation.
Pain and numbness/tingling in arm brought on by shoulder movement can be caused by rotator cuff pathology/impingement (injury to rotator cuff can cause pinching of the nerves passing through the shoulder), thoracic outlet syndrome (blood vessels or nerves in the space between your collarbone and your first rib are compressed), or nerve impingement in cervical region or locally in muscles of shoulder complex. I would recommend seeing a doctor and/or physical therapist for assessment of the cause of pain and numbness and to begin treatment to address symptoms and regain shoulder complex function.
Most likely you have an impingement of a nerve in your neck muscles. Therefore, most importantly is to work on your neck muscles by doing a few steps to release nerve compression. You need to decompress your neck - email me foe some photos at acpt2091@gmail.com
Then you need some warm anti-inflammatory topical creams such as sombra - rub it in at night. Also electrical stim would be perfect to apply with a hearing packs once a day. Self adjustments or self mobilization would be perfect. Email me for instructions.
if you are passion out from it, you need to go to an urgent care or ER.
There could potentially be a few different diagnoses associated with your symptoms. The first could be cervical radiculopathy, where a nerve root is irritated, referring to pain into the shoulder and arm. Secondly, you could have thoracic outlet syndrome, which would cause numbness and tingle into the entirety of the hand. Which fingers do you feel the numbness and tingling in? Does the pain refer to the neck to the shoulder? Is any trauma associated with the shoulder?
Depending on what movements cause your shoulder to hurt, you might have impingement of the shoulder. However, with symptoms going down into your hand there could be some neck involvement. I would definitely make an appointment with a PT so that they can screen you and determine if the pain is coming from your shoulder or your neck.
