Shunts and Encephalitis?

If you have been diagnosed with encephalitis of the brain, will a shunt correct this problem? Will constant antibiotic and antifungal drugs should be used consistently to kill the bacteria or fungus in the brain?

It depends on what type of encephalitis it is. Shunts will only help drain excess fluid but not treat the encephalitis. Please discuss this with your doctor.
