Rheumatologist Questions Sjogren's Syndrome

Sjogren's/Degenerative Disc Disease

I have Sjogren's and I have recently been diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease, and now I have to wear a back brace to relieve some of the pain. Is there any possible correlation between the two?

Degenerative disc disease is more common in people with Sjogren's. Although I would not advise the use of a back brace as it can further weaken your back muscle. You should go for physical therapy to strengthen your core muscles.
Likely not. Sjogrens arthritis typically spares the spine tissues, joints

The two things are not correlated.
Good evening,

These are unrelated conditions. Degenerative disc disease is age related wear and tear damage. It is not inflammation related or autoimmune in nature. Sjögren’s syndrome is an autoimmune disease which sometimes can be associates with joint problems but these are different from degenerative disc disease
