A skin abscess in the groin from an ingrown hair can be treated at home if it is small. Here’s what you can do:

Warm Compress: Apply a warm washcloth for 15–20 minutes, three to four times a day to help it drain.
Keep it Clean: Wash the area gently with mild soap and water, and keep it dry.
Avoid Squeezing: Do not try to pop it, as this can spread infection.
Use Antibiotic Cream: Apply an over-the-counter antibiotic ointment and cover it with a clean bandage.
See a doctor if:

It gets bigger, very painful, or red
You have a fever or headache, as this could mean the infection is spreading
It does not improve in a few days
