Ophthalmologist Questions Ophthalmologist

Somehow my wife's vision came back?

7 years ago my wife's vision started to cut out on her to the point where she had to stop driving and quit working. Some days she couldn't tell if it was day or night. I had to tell her. We went to some eye doctors and some different specialists but I can't remember what they were and none of them could find anything wrong. So she gave up. After 7 years she just happened to put on someone's glasses she said and it made a difference so she went to the eye doctor and got an eye exam and glasses and now she can see. If you can't tell if it's day or night sometimes how do glasses help? And how come it didn't work in the past? She may have had some anxiety issues in the past when that happened but the depression and PTSD and Graves disease came long after I think I could be wrong.

I would have to do a detailed retinal exam to answer those questions

Vision can change over the years especially presbyopia.
Psychogenic vision loss.
Your questions are likely answered by the information that you supplied. Look closely and you will find that the answer came to light “long after”. You should know one important truth in medicine: when we can’t find the problem, it’s not in the eye.

It’s not possible to make any further opinion without knowing what kind of eye specialists she saw and what sofisticated testing she had. Problems with night vision are usually diagnosed with testing of the retina. Whether her other issues are involved might be sorted out by a neuroophthalmologist.
My advice, be thankful and stop asking questions. There is not enough information here, but you may not like the answer. Happy all turned out well!
