Right Carotid:
Intimal wall thickening is noted in the common carotid artery. Patent right distal common carotid artery to proximal internal carotid artery stent with normal Doppler signals present. Elevated velocities noted in the mid and distal segments of the internal carotid artery. Technically difficult evaluation of the origin of the external carotid artery due to stent placement. Probable occlusion near the origin of the external carotid artery with flow reconstituted by a collateral vessel near the proximal/mid-segment of the external carotid artery. Probable short segment occlusion of the origin/proximal right external.

The report describes a patient who has peripheral atherosclerosis in the carotid arteries, which shows a stent placed in the past (presumably bc of a severe blockage). The end of the stent has slowly over time had development of another narrowing of significance in the stent, which allowed collaterals from another vessel to develop adequate flow to support the area supplied by the previously stented carotid. Because of the collaterals, one may not have symptoms.
