Is it safe to take ALLOPURINOL, PANTOPRAZOLE & FOLIC ACID if I have CLL and have chemo? Do they affect my blood cells?

Hello,
You are stating that you have CLL for which you are going to receive chemotherapy. I suspect that steroids will be part of the chemotherapy regimen. You are worried about side effects or influences of allopurinol, pantoprazole or folic acid. These agents are used to lower your uric acid levels (allopurinol) or to treat ulcers or gastritis (pantroprazole). Folic Acid is a vitamin that is used by your body in the production of blood cells.

Chemotherapy can be expected to cause effects which can lead to anemia and decreased blood cell production. The three medications that you mention are being used to treat other conditions and are not expected to interfere with the effect of chemotherapy on your CLL. Your doctor, though, needs to know about your used of these medications.

Good luck.
