Thyroid problem?

I had a thyroid test because I wanted to do HCG injections for weight loss my TSH was 5.6. They told me I couldn’t do the injections till I was on thyroid medicine. I went to a doctor on demand and talked to an MD doctor she ordered another thyroid TSH plus Free T 4 my results were 6.3 TSH and my free T4 was a 1. She told me I didn’t need thyroid medication. I then told them at the weight loss clinic about the results but she said that wasn’t correct and now I need a free T 3. What is the correct answer should I be on medication or is my thyroid fine? Will I not be able to lose weight with my TSH high?

Your thyroid test (TSH) shows that you have a 'slow' underworking thyroid (hypothyroidism). Thyroid hormone taken daily (or once a week) would correct this problem. Hypothyroidism will make it more difficult to lose weight because metabolism is slow and your low energy level makes you less active. You do not need free T3 testing. The TSH should be repeated 4 weeks after starting the thyroid medication to confirm improvement.
Sounds like you need to see an endocrinologist to get real information. You appear to be hypothyroid per the TSH readings, however the Free T4 was normal. HCG injections have not been proven to be indicated or effective in weight loss. You must also nearly starve yourself when getting HCG. I suggest seeking advice from a licensed weight loss professional, avoiding sugars, salt and fatty foods, count calories, daily exercises, personal trainer, total change in dietary habits. Sounds simple but you must burn more calories than you take in. There is no quick, easy, or simple solution.

If you don’t have symptoms of hypothyroidism you won’t need medicine but if you experienced any weight gain, constipation, dry skin, or hair loss.
