Tretinoin

I have been using tretnoin 0.5 mg cream (retin-a) for about 5 years. I use the Taro brand. Does it cause any sort of cancers, or has using it been linked to any sort of cancers? I have read mixed things online.

Tretinoin (Retin-A) has been used for many years, and there is no strong proof that it causes cancer when applied to the skin.

What Research Says:
Some old animal studies suggested high doses of oral retinoids (not skin creams) might increase cancer risk, but this does not apply to tretinoin creams used on humans.
No major human studies have found a link between tretinoin cream and cancer.
Some research even suggests retinoids may help prevent certain skin cancers by renewing skin cells.
Things to Keep in Mind:
It makes your skin sensitive to the sun. Always use SPF 30+ sunscreen to prevent sunburn and damage.
It may cause dryness or irritation, but this is not related to cancer.
If you are still worried, talk to a dermatologist, but based on current research, tretinoin does not cause cancer when used correctly.
