Unexpected stiff sore muscles?

Hello. I’m a 63 year old male, and in generally good health. Never smoked, drink only very occasionally. I’m 6’3” and 170 pounds. Up until the pandemic, I went to the gym 2-3 times per week, working with a personal trainer. Lately, however, I haven’t intentionally exercised. In the past few months, my hamstrings and hip and groin muscles have been continually sore and stiff, even without doing any activity that would explain such condition. It’s worst when I wake up in the morning. Whereas I used to be pretty flexible, able to stand and bend over straight-legged and touch the floor, lately I have trouble putting on socks even when I sit down. I’m just so stiff. I can’t think of anything that could have caused this. Is this something I should see a doctor about?

Yes, please tell your doctor about these symptoms because thyroid problems, electrolyte and calcium and other levels may be off. There is a stiffness condition called Polymyalgia Rheumatica ( PMR ) - although that frequently causes neck and upper arm and shoulder stiffness . A sedimentation rate may help . But again, the first step is to get appt with primary care
