Urine retention?

I am an 80 year old African man with a history of mild prostate hyperplasia. I suffered from infection and dehydration led to a 2.9 creatinine blood level, ultrasound showed the size of 27 mm for the prostate 2 weeks ago. The urine catheter was inserted all back normal but he can't pass urine after catheter removal now 2 days past. What to do?

You have urinary retention most likely from an enlarged prostate. Immediate urinate catheter placement is needed to relieve the bladder outlet obstruction. Also, you need to see a urologist for further management.

Thank you for contacting FATD about urinary retention; sorry for the suffering. I hope you have gotten emergent care properly with no further related symptoms. By your age and the information provided, it is extremely likely that you have slowly developed urinary retention over a long time without timely personal or professional attention. Nonetheless, please take time to read and understand the contents of "What to do at feeling sick...?" at What Should You Do When You Feel and Become Sick? (foralm.com), from which you become capable of meaningfully interacting with the doctor so as to gain adequate care to protect your bladder and general health.   Besides, many posts at BPH, voiding trouble & its care (foralm.com) will add more related knowledge in understanding and caring for voiding troubles in men. If having more questions, ask your doctors or contact FATD again. Best wishes for good bladder and general care...
