“What anesthetic agent should be avoided in geriatric patients?”
My grandmother will have surgery under general anesthesia. I want to know what anesthetic agent should be avoided in geriatric patients?

If you turned an aspirin bottle around and looked at its mornings you would never take an aspirin again, yet it’s prescribed all the time. Each patient and each person has a different effect with different medications dosing and timing. Throw and dementia, and now you put a wildcard in that your cards. Whatever is prescribed by the treating provider, is most likely the logical choice based on the symptoms. If there are adverse reactions, you need to put it down on a date, time, and explain what happened and how long after the medication was ingested. And then the doctor or provider would be able to curtail and or change goals or meds. I hope that helps you, and I appreciate you asking for my medical advice, but that’s my best that I can give you. I wish you and yours nothing but health, happiness, and God’s blessing.
