Are you referring to testing that is done on the newborn after delivery?
If so, after birth, try to keep baby with you as long as possible, if there are no complications during labor/delivery. This period of time if referred to as the “Golden Hour” and it allows for bonding time with you baby, skin-to-skin contact, and the initiation of breastfeeding if you choose to do so.
The babies vitals will be collected, the umbilical cord cut, measurement and weight recorded.
The baby will be given a vitamin K shot, a hepatitis vaccine, and eye ointment, these are all optional and can be declined.
You babies glucose will be checked, a circumcision and be preformed and a PKU test (checking for genetic disorders) done. Those test are all optional as well.
