What are the disadvantages of epidural?

I will have rectal surgery under epidural anesthesia. What are the disadvantages of epidural?

There are no true disadvantages. You could have complications that are very rare.
There are a number of ways to perform that particular surgery. Having an epidural allows a patient to have pain relief without the side effects associated with narcotics. There are some potential drawbacks. You can develop an inadequate block, a spinal headache, bleeding/infection into the spinal cord, hypotension (low blood pressure)
