There are not a lot of home remedies that are considered "safe" for palpitations. It depends on the cause of the palpitations. If your heart is in an irregular rhythm because you are on a medication, are anxious, or have a heart condition like "A-fib"...there are all different causes and treatments, you see.

I advise you to seek an expert opinion, like a doctor or cardiologist (heart specialist) opinion, on why you are having these symptoms. He/she may ask you to undergo some tests to determine the cause, so that the right treatment can be recommended. I recommend that you limit your caffeine intake (tea, coffee) and try to look at maintaining a healthy diet, quit smoking if you currently do, and avoid the use of nonprescribed drugs and alcohol. Those are all "safe" home remedies.

It is important to know that even herbal treatments can be considered medicine, and you do not want to medicate yourself without the training and medical knowledge of a professional behind your use of medicines.

I was a cardiac triage nurse, and so I recommend looking for a kind and caring heart specialist if your primary care doctor thinks your palpitations may warrant a closer look. If you have any sharp pain or crushing weight in your chest or left arm, find yourself out of breath, or feel a sense of "dread"...you need to call 911 and get treatment right away without delay!
