There is no easy answer to this because there are many types of gastritis, which in addition can be either acute or chronic. The latter does not usually cause symptoms. For acute infectious gastritis, pain control, antiacids and anti-nausea medications are commonly used. More advanced prescription meds can also be used in concert with your HCP.
Gastritis, irritation to the lining of the stomach, can be improved with lifestyle changes such as weight loss and decreasing triggers. Some triggers include caffeine, the use of NSAIDs, smoking, a fatty diet, overeating, eating to close to going to bed, and repeated intake of spicy or acidic foods. If you are able to find and work on eliminating your triggers, you should be able to improve your gastritis symptoms.
