What are the long term effects of Prozac?

I am taking Prozac for depression already a month. I want to know what are the long term effects of Prozac?

Hi,

There aren’t any obvious long-term effects of Prozac, though it doesn’t do anything to fix the original neurotransmitter problem. The problem is that the body wants a higher level of serotonin, which Prozac provides by interrupting the normal metabolism. The long term may continue to see the low serotonin and unless something else is done, the baseline problem may persist. Fortunately, a good percentage of people have this level return to normal over time on its own. Unfortunately, there continues to be many people for whom that is not the case.

Be well,
