Otoplasty, or ear pinning surgery has minimal risks, other than scarring and recurrence of deformity. Since cartilage has a memory, some corrected ears may not stay properly "pinned". Post-op scarring in ear cartilage may produce long-term ear discomfort at night when laying on the affected ear. Talk to your plastic surgeon.
As with other surgeries, infection, bleeding, scarring, asymmetry, unsatisfactory results are possible, as well as the need for further surgery and difficulty with wound healing.
