Nerve pain can be treated with multiple modalities, the first being medication which may include gabapentin tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline. If medication fails to provide adequate relief there are some interventions such as injections that can help alleviate some of the pain symptoms depending on the characteristic of the pain and distribution.
Treatment for pain after a stroke is a multimodality approach. This requires a detailed diagnosis and initiation of treatment options including PT, medications, and interventional treatments that sometimes include injection procedures and in some cases spinal cord stimulator implants. All of this requires careful and detailed management by an experienced pain management provider.
Gabapentin up to 3 grams daily may help
Dr. Wang stated there may be some good options, and he'd be happy to see this patient.

I’m sorry to hear this. Nerve pain is best treated with nerve medications. Some examples are gabapentin and lyrica, but there are many types. The choice would depend on your specific symptoms and medical history.
I hope you feel better soon!
