There are a few other factors that can cause knee pain, such as gout, autoimmune arthritis, Lyme disease, etc. You need to see a physician to find out why you have knee pain.

What first comes to mind is a question, is it swollen and hot? If so, it is probably an infection. If not, try ibuprofen; if that helps it is inflamed. The task then is to determine why.
