There are many possible causes for depression. One of the best researched causes is the theory of ACEs - Adverse Childhood Events. Research shows that people who experience Adverse Childhood Events are more likely to suffer from a range of mental illnesses, including depression; and the more such events a person experienced as a child, the more likely and more severe the results.

These events include:
Physical abuse
Sexual abuse
Emotional abuse
Physical neglect
Emotional neglect
Mental illness
Divorce
Substance abuse
Violence against your mother
Mental illness
Having a relative who has been sent to jail or prison
Unfortunately, there's not one specific answer I can give you. There are a lot of factors that contribute to depression, which include genetic, social, environmental, etc factors. Typically someone will be genetically predisposed and then experience certain life events that cause the depression to show up. Hi,

Thanks for your question. There are many different causes of depression, including temperament (negative emotions), environmental factors (stressful life events, adverse childhood experiences), genetic and physiological factors (heritability from family members with depression), and comorbid issues (substance abuse, anxiety, personality disorders, chronic or
disabling medical conditions such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, etc).
I hope this is helpful!

Hello and thank you for your question,

Depression can be caused by several different factors. Chemical imbalances, loss, and illnesses can all lead to long-term depression. There is no one trigger for everyone as our bodies are different. Past trauma can also trigger long-term depression and some types of depression are hereditary.
I hope I have shed some light on this condition for you.

This is usually an underlying issue. You need to get a check-up rule out any physical ailments first, then do a mental health check-up. Rule out and see if there is anything that needs to be addressed.

It can be multiple things. It can be genetics, it can be stressors.
