What causes nose bleeding in children?

My son is 5 years old and he had a nosebleed yesterday. What causes nose bleeding in children?

This is may happen due to few reasons at this age: one of this - beginning of a simple common cold; seasonal allergy; and dryness of nasal mucosa. You can use a few drops of Normal Saline 1-2 times a day. For dryness, Aquaphor cream is helpful.
Several things can cause nosebleeds in kids. #1 for a 5-year-old boy is picking his nose. You usually see blood on the index finger of his dominant hand. Commonly, nasal irritation from allergies or a cold can cause nose bleeds. Dry nasal mucosa causes cracks and bleeding. This often happens in winter when the air is drier. If the air in your house is dry, this can be a problem too. Nasal trauma will cause bleeding as well. Rarely bleeding disorders or leukemia cause bleeding including nosebleeds. After a nosebleed, run a humidifier at the bedside while your child sleeps for several days. Also, use a wipe to apply Vaseline to the inside of his nostrils — it doesn’t hurt, but may still be met with resistance.
