The perception of pain varies from individual to individual as well as how each person's TMJ disorders may be related to a number of different causes and manifested by varying degrees of discomfort and/or pain. Patients have described their TMJ disorders anywhere from aggravating to sharp shooting pain radiating from the preauricular area (in front of the ear) in different directions. Difficulty opening the mouth, pain and the inability to eat due to pain, popping/clicking with movement of the lower jaw and sensitivity/painful teeth are other complaints patients present with.
Google search will give you tons of information. The problem is, there are not many healthcare professionals who can take care of TMJ pain.
