After abutments are placed
It usually takes 4 to 6 weeks for gums to heal around abutments. During that time, follow your surgeon's advice about what kinds of foods to eat. You will also be given instructions for cleaning around the abutments. Correct cleaning prevents infection and promotes healing.
If it is a healing abutment, you wait about 6 weeks then have an impression taken for the final implant crown.
If you are talking about an implant abutment. There is a period of time where it must heal and the bone will integrate around the Abutment. Then it will be tested and you will be able To have the Crown placed on the Abutment.
Since you did not state the crown for the implant was delivered, I will assume that impression was made or a scan was taken ( digital impression) to make your crown for your implant.
