“What helps with a bunion on the side of the feet?”
I have a bunion on the side of my foot. What helps with a bunion on the side of the feet?

This sounds like a Tailor's bunion at the 5th or "pinky toe" region. Aside from wider toe boxes, there are minimally invasive surgical options to which you walk right after the procedure available.
Hi! Thanks for the question. The first issue is what kind of pain are you getting from itpressure in shoes, or actual pain when standing and walking due to the joint or how you stand on your foot. If its pressure from running in shoes, look for shoes with soft materials that will stretch and give. If you have hard leather shoes, you can have them spot stretched to provide more room. If there is actual pain from the bone or joint, then its time to see a podiatrist to have X-rays and an evaluation to determine how to best reduce the pain. Mary Peters, DPM, FACFAS
Wearing wider shoes and orthotics will help you walk better and slow the progression. You can use topical tiger balm or biofeeeze if it is painful. After conservative treatments fail then need to correct with surgery!
The only way to get rid of a bunion is with surgery. There is no splint that can correct a bunion. If you are having pain associated with your bunion I recommend you see your local podiatrist
If there is a prominence on the outer side of the foot behind the fifth toe, then this condition is called a Tailor's bunion. This condition is often associated with shoegear irritation with formation of a bursa that can be painful. Radiographs will show the shape of the metatarsal bone behind the fifth toe and if it is enlarged, bowed outward, or if there are other contributing factors. Wearing wider shoes can provide some relief conservatively. However, if there is structural factors to the Tailor's bunion, then surgery can be considered.
Padding, bunion splints, tailor bunion splints can help cushion the area. Wider shoes can be of benefit as well as arch supports. However we recommend and offer regenerative options to rejuvenate the cushioning between the skin and the bone. midohiofootandankle.com
