Humanistic theory and therapy strive to address human conditions more holistically. This therapy approach is not used specifically for any psychopathology but rather facilitates a person exploring and understanding, even accepting their whole person such as emotions, values, needs, self-concept. It may require a person to be capable of focusing on honest insight versus specific symptom reduction.
Namaste, Humanistic therapy is used to treat a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, panic disorders, personality disorders, addictions, relationship issues, low self-esteem etc. It also helps those who are searching for a purpose and meaning in their life. The focus is on a person's strengths and how to use them to grow, heal and be wiser in making choices in their lives. Thus it fosters actualizing of one's potential and spiritual enlightenment. Licensed Psychologists may not necessarily identify themselves as "Humanistic". Yet as they are working with human beings they are generally using this approach in helping their clients to achieve their goals. Take care and remain safe.
It is an approach focusing on the deeper meaning of issues, relationships between the patient and therapist.
