Kidney infections in children require more investigation by a urologist to make sure there is no reflux or any anatomic underlying problem. Also antibiotic choice and duration of treatment should be based on the sensitivity of the bacteria and the underlying urinary problems if any. Also, a recurrent urine infection in children is very concerning.
I highly recommend that if your child has an infection, that he be seen by a physician for urine culture and targeted therapy. Urinary tract infections in children may have a different significance than when seen in adults.
Please refer this to a pediatric nephrologist
Penicillin or cephalosporin group of antibiotics.
