There are several medication options for insomnia and anxiety, but the best way to start tackling them is to also see what the causes are for both of them. That way you can address the causes and medications can be added onif needed. Antidepressants have been show to work well in your age group for anxiety. Insomnia can be made worse by anxiety, extended screen time, and other factors. With your age group, there may not be many safe options for insomnia, but that can be discussed with your psychiatrist.
In my opinion, medication is not a "one size fits all." Medication and behavioral therapy go hand-in-hand.
Blessings to you.

At age 13, I would really try not to take medication for sleeping. There is a behavioral technique called cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, which is an excellent, effective intervention. A simplified version can be tried via an online resource. The online treatment cost less than $80. A website called sleepio.com, owned by the British National Health Service, and one called CBTforinsomnia.com are ones with which I have had substantial experience. There may be others, but be sure they are run by sleep medicine accredited entities. Severe anxiety may require formal evaluation by a psychiatrist.
The best way to sleep is to have the same schedule every night. Start to relax at least a half hour before bed. Go to bed at the same time, turn off all electronics, get up at the same time in the morning. While in bed if you can't sleep, breath in for the count of 4 hold your breath for the count of 4 and breath out for the count of 4. Do that 10 times. There is not a great medicine for sleep because your body becomes used to the medication and they stop working. Try this and see if it helps. Good luck
Good evening and thank you for your question. Let me clarify the fact that I am not a physician. I am a licensed clinical social worker. My first suggestion would not be medication and instead a regimen of learning how to effectively practice deep breathing even when you are not feeling anxious so your body learns how to call on the tool like second nature. I also suggest finding a good therapist with whom you connect to begin addressing the thought processes behind your feelings of anxiety. Finally I suggest downloading an app like Calm or Breathe to assist in relaxation at night before falling asleep. Limit your screen and tv time. Spend time outdoors, with good friends and family. Anxiety is a normal emotion that gets turned up when something is bothering us. You are not alone and there is nothing wrong with you. Take care of yourself, think optimistically, and you will eventually realize learning to be in control of yourself will significantly lessen your anxious feelings. Warmest regards.
At 13 years of age medication is not the first solution. Seeing a counselor who has experience in anxiety and sleep disorders will be my first recommendation
