Not sure. If your phobia is associated with a past trauma it may be a manifestation of PTSD. It could also be related to OCD. You need to be assessed by a good counselor or psychologists. I wish you the best.

There is a specific type of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, called Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), that has been found to be effective for phobias. It involves gradually exposing oneself to the feared activity/object and learning how to tolerate the discomfort that is associated with it instead of resorting to the normal responses designed to alleviate the discomfort. Eventually, one can reduce or eliminate the anxiety associated with the feared object/activity. ERP is done in a very controlled manner with the support of your therapist.
I would say cognitive therapy would by the best treatment for phobias. It would allow you to confront the phobia by using different techniques to rectify the issue.
